Darc and I took a trip to GP on the weekend to visit his niece, Ashley, and her new baby boy, Kaden. That means Darc is a Great Uncle! And I'm a soon-to-be Great Aunt! Kaden is as cute as can be and I got the opportunity to hold and feed him. What a good boy he is! He hardly made a sound the whole time we were visiting. Here's a picture of Darc after holding Kaden...which one is the sleepy baby?

Fun with Sammie the Cat
Alice Zamburek (Aaron's mom) has kindly agreed to do our cake and flowers, and tonight Darcy and I stopped at Aaron and Sarah's house to drop off some supplies (including some ribbon and gluten-free cake mix). Aaron and Sarah weren't home, but I talked to Aaron on the phone and he said to put the supplies underneath the cat on their front porch, as they don't have a mailbox. Okay...

A Visit from Darryl
Darcy's brother, Darryl, was in town on Monday! We decided to take him out to our wedding venue for a sneak peek. As you can see from the photo, Darryl gave it the thumbs up. It's official - the Country Lodge is Darryl approved! We hope our other guests will give it the same review.
The MacDonalds (and Hurlock) brunch at the Hotel MacDonald
My dad, Darc, and I went for an early brunch (actually breakfast) at the Hotel MacDonald on Sunday. This post isn't really related to the wedding, but that's okay. I had blueberry pancakes complete with apple cinnamon butter, whipped cream, and fresh berries. Mmmm. We felt so fancy! Here we are just across the street from the place we filled our bellies.

Our honeymoon
Darcy and I have been toying with the idea of touring wine country in Sanoma County, CA. There's a cute little bed-and-breakfast I found while doing some research online. The Old Crocker Inn was founded as a hunting retreat in 1880 by Charles Crocker, a railroad magnet. Now that's old timey. Several things drew me to this B&B, including in-room massages! I don't think it could get better than that.

The domestication process
As the wedding date nears, we have been planning like crazy, and there is still so much that needs to be done (flowers, cake and bachelor party come to mind). In spite of all that, we took a night off to relax for a bit last night. I had recently gotten the idea in my head that I wanted to BBQ, as it seems like the manly thing to do at this time of year. Thankfully, practical Darcy stepped in, and I bought a small inexpensive portable BBQ to give this grilling a try.

First step in any good BBQ? Get the wifey working on drinks. Here we have a lovely picture of Sheena creating margaritas for us. Mmmm, mixed berries. You would think the Magic Bullet blender was made solely for this purpose.

Someone has to keep an eye on the grill. I feel like an old pro already, though that may have more to do with age than experience. It could also be the hat and apron...

And the finished product. This is what we can look forward to every night right? Married couples typically have margaritas and BBQ for supper don't they? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Let's get registered, registered...
We also created our registry at the Bay. It was more complicated that I would have thought it could be, and after a couple of hours of looking at china and other really exciting items, it didn't seem like we had made much progress, but Jean at the Bay registry said it would be a slow process. Sheena was drawn to the Vera Wang china, and we picked out a set that looked nice, can be functional, and I probably won't break a piece every time I touch it. Bonus!
We also considered registering at Rona, as there are some projects around the house we would like to start in on (ah, the joys of buying a house with "character"). If you would like to contribute to our bathroom, kitchen, or yard makeover, any Rona gift cards would be greatly appreciated (Feel free to specify which project you would like any gift to go towards) ! We also accept peoples time to help with the projects, but I don't think we will get as many takers on that offer...

Invites away!
Mailed out the invites the other, and some arrived in the hands of our future guests the very next day. Now the pressure is on. Sadly, I was reading one of Sheena's wedding magazines last night and looking at the timetable in it. Looks like we are on track. I say sadly because it was the only source of reading material available to me. Enjoy whatever flavour of the invite you received. Perhaps if I can find time I will post them all up here so you can compare them.
I'm hoping most people will be able to make it up by Thursday so we can plan some group activities and get to know each other some more. Look forward to seeing everyone!
